We affirm the biblical teaching that Christ is Head of the church. This means, among other things, that churches are under the authority of Christ not of any other body.
Our church, by its affirmation of the 1963 Baptist Faith & Message, demonstrates belief in Jesus’ virgin birth, His death on the cross and His resurrection.
The Bible
The scriptures are the inspired Word of God, relevant for daily living, and the final authority on all matters of faith.
Autonomy of the Local Church
First Baptist Temple is an autonomous body of Christ followers, operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and is voluntary affiliated with Texas Baptists (the BGCT) and numerous other partner institutions at the national and global level.
Priesthood of the Believer
Each individual follower of Christ can go directly to God without the aid of any intermediary and can and should read and interpret the Bible for him/herself without religious officials dictating what to believe.
Baptism
Biblical baptism is:
— by immersion
— for the believer
— symbolic of the death and resurrection the believer shares with Christ
— an act of obedience
— an act of worship
Lord's Supper Communion
This ordinance of the church is:
— for the believer
— symbolic
— an act of obedience

Salvation Comes from Jesus Christ Alone
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.
In Reaching a Lost and Hurting World
Our church has a passion for continuing to reach the lost and hurting in our world.
